Wellington Chamber announces Anne M. Gannon
as February Key Note Speaker

Tax Collector to speak at February 23 Luncheon



The Wellington Chamber of Commerce is honored to announce Anne M. Gannon as their February 23 luncheon key note speaker. This special event will be held on February 23rd at the exclusive Wanderer’s Club located at 1900 Aero Club Drive in Wellington.


Anne currently serves as the Constitutional Tax Collector, Palm Beach County, elected in 2006 with the goal of modernizing, streamlining and professionalizing the agency's operations, systems and management processes. She was overwhelmingly reelected by a large margin in 2008 to a four year term. Anne is responsible for the collection and disbursement of more than 3 billion dollars in tax revenues and the issuance of driver licenses for Palm Beach County. The Agency employs over 250 women and men in the central office and six service centers throughout Palm Beach County. The transformational processes implemented by the Tax Collector have already resulted in national attention. Anne was invited by the prestigious Deming Research Institute to present at the organization's 16th Annual International Deming Research Seminar in 2010.


Anne was elected to the Florida House of Representatives on November 2, 2000 and reelected twice by the citizens of House District 86 in Palm Beach County, Florida. Her decision to stand for election to the Florida House was motivated by her passion to insure level playing fields for women, protect our most vulnerable citizens from predatory practices and to safeguard Florida's fragile ecosystem. Her experiences in business and a lifetime of community service resulted in a keen understanding of the complex issues facing all Florida citizens. Her advocacy for victims of domestic abuse, human trafficking protection, environmental advocacy, educational equity and health care access resulted in concrete improvements through governmental action. Her peers elected Anne as the House of Representatives' Democratic Leader Pro Tempore for the 2004-2006 legislative sessions. Her committee assignments included Insurance, Health Care Appropriations, Ethics and Elections and Rules and Calendar Council. She also served on the Select Committee on Medicaid Reform.


Prior to serving in the legislature Anne owned a public policy firm with offices in Delray Beach and Tallahassee. Her decision to form the firm was a result of her passion for advocacy and a desire to improve the human condition. She successfully represented clients on a broad spectrum of issues, ranging from economic development, HIV/AIDS and women's reproductive health care, family law, business, environmental, transportation, disability, business regulation and insurance issues. In addition to her advocacy work, Anne was respected for her keen communication management, grassroots and issue campaign skills. Prior business experience includes a partnership in Applegarth Designs, Inc., a furniture and lamp manufacturing business where she oversaw the sales and marketing operations, accounting and finance. Anne was also employed by a Fortune 100 corporation, Dole's Fresh Fruit division, as an operations analyst. Employment with Dole gave her a strong background in cost controls, fixed-asset and budget management and operating budget analysis.


Anne is an avid runner, gardener, reader, accomplished chef and enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Know Your November 2010 Ballot


October 6th Luncheon to showcase industry leaders speaking on crucial issues to Wellington that will appear on your November ballot



The Wellington Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Ms. Pamela Goodman, League of Women Voters Florida State Board Director for Fair Districts, Mr. Clarence Anthony Clarence Anthony, President of Citizens for Lower Taxes and a Stronger Economy, Inc. and Howard K. Coates, Jr. Wellington Village Councilman as their key note speakers at the September 29th luncheon. The luncheon will be held at Binks Forest Golf Club located at 400 Binks Forest Drive.



Pamela Goodman will be speaking on Fair Districts. Ms. Goodman joined the League of Women Voters in 2000 with a focused commitment on making the election process more credible, fighting against any citizen being disenfranchised to vote and educating people of all ages in the community in a fair, nonpartisan manner on governmental issues of importance to them. She served as Palm Beach County President 2005 -2009 and is serving on the League of Women Voters Florida State Board of Directors from 2007 to present. Currently, she is chairing the Fair Districts campaign statewide for the League. Pam has also served on the National League of Women Voters Nominating Committee beginning June, 2008. She recently received the Susan B. Anthony Award for Outstanding Feminist 2008 from the National Organization for Women. She also serves on the Homeless Coalition of Palm Beach County Board of Directors and the Community Advisory Board for WXEL radio and television PBS stations for the Palm Beach County and Treasure Coast areas.


Clarence Anthony will be speaking on Amendment 4 – "Hometown Democracy"- Clarence Anthony is the President of Citizens for Lower Taxes and a Stronger Economy, Inc. From 1984 to 2008, Clarence Anthony served as the Mayor of South Bay. During his time as Mayor, Anthony served as President of the Florida League of Cities and, subsequently, President of the National League of Cities. Prior to founding his own consulting firm, Anthony served as the Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President of PBS&J, a nationally recognized planning and engineering firm. At PBS&J, Anthony designed and monitored the firm’s Political Action Committee, handled the company’s branding and advertising program and managed an organization of over 200 employees and a budget of $18 million. In addition to serving as a managing director for the PBS&J Foundation, Anthony served on the Board of Directors for Bealls, a privately-held clothing and retail corporation, and Correctional Properties Trust, a publicly-traded REIT. Anthony was awarded the Orange Bowl Committee Leadership Award in 2008, the National League of Cities Presidents Award in 2008, the Florida League of Cities Municipal Official of the Year in 2006, and the National Forum of Black Public Administrators Government Leadership Award in 2007.


Howard K. Coates, Jr. will be speaking on Wellington Mayoral term limits. Howard Coates, along with his wife Cheri and four children, is a long term Wellington resident and was raised in Palm Beach County. After graduating from Twin Lakes High, Mr. Coates served four years in the United States Marine Corps. Thereafter, he received his A.A. from the University of South Carolina, with highest honors, his B.A. from the University of Florida, phi beta kappa, his J.D. from Yale Law School, and his M.B.A. from Florida Atlantic University. He has practiced law in Palm Beach County for almost twenty-five years.


Mr. Coates has been very active in the community and has served on numerous boards and committees, including serving as President of the South Palm Beach County Bar Association, and on the Boards of the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County, and the Boys & Girls Club of Wellington. After being appointed to the Council in 2009, Mr. Coates ran unopposed and was re-elected in March 2010 and is currently serving a four year term.

Wellington Chamber of Commerce announces Medical and Wellness Festival Chairmen, Committee and Presenting Sponsors


May 12, 2010 - Wellington, FL --- The Wellington Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce Dr. Blake Kendall -Emergency Specialists of Wellington (Wellington Regional Medical Center ER) and Dr. Randall Laurich -The Wellness Center as Chairmen of the 2010 Wellington Health and Wellness Festival.


The goal of this event, presented by the Medical Committee of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce is to create awareness of the many dimensions of wellness through experiential booth exhibits. We’ll showcase a variety of specialties including medical screenings, cutting edge fitness trends, integrative and holistic medicine, aromatherapy, pet therapy, free massages and heart healthy food samples. The Wellington Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce the launch of our "Young Professionals Organization"!! Our new "YPO" has been created to provide a Networking environment within the Wellington Chamber for our young professionals to network and grow the Chamber and our Community! This group will coordinate networking events, day trips, socials, social networking events and business coaching opportunities.


Any business owner or Associate of that business is welcome! He or She, or the Company they work for, must be a Chamber Member in good standing! Michael McAuliffe State Attorney Michael McAuliffe to speak at Wellington Chamber Luncheon


On Wednesday, May 19th 2010 State Attorney Michael McAuliffe will speak to the members and guests of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce at their member luncheon. The luncheon will be held at Binks Forest Golf and Country Club, 400 Binks Forest Dr. In addition, at this event The Wellington Chamber will be rolling out their BRAND NEW Young Professionals Organization, Technology Committee and PyroGrill Business of The Month Program!! This is a not-to-miss event!


In November, 2008, Michael McAuliffe was elected as the State Attorney for the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit in and for Palm Beach County, Florida. Mr. McAuliffe took office on January 6, 2009.


Prior to becoming State Attorney, Mr. McAuliffe was in private practice as a partner in Rosenberg & McAuliffe, PL (later McAuliffe Law Group) and a partner in Holland & Knight LLP focusing his practice on litigation matters.


From 1994 to 1999, Mr. McAuliffe served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of Florida. From 1997-1999, Mr. McAuliffe was a Section Chief and Supervisory Assistant U.S. Attorney in the U.S. Attorney's Office.


From 1989 to 1993, Mr. McAuliffe was a prosecutor with the Criminal Section, U.S. Department of Justice, in Washington, D.C. As a federal prosecutor, Mr. McAuliffe investigated and prosecuted cases involving domestic terrorism, official misconduct, hate crimes and involuntary servitude. While at the Justice Department, Mr. McAuliffe successfully prosecuted the leader (Grand Dragon) of the Ku Klux Klan and other 13 Klan members in Louisiana on federal hate crimes charges.


Mr. McAuliffe has served an instructor at the National Advocacy Institute/Center of the U.S. Department of Justice and taught appellate advocacy as an Associate Professorial Lecturer in Law at the George Washington University's Law School. For the 1993-94 academic year, Mr. McAuliffe was a CEP Fellow and Visiting Professor of Law in the Czech Republic where he helped establish a reform law school/faculty and taught American constitutional history. Mr. McAuliffe also provided counsel regarding legal reform issues to the Office of the Czech President and various members of Czech Parliament.


Mr. McAuliffe earned his BBA with honors (cum laude) from the University of Texas at Austin in 1985 and his Doctor of Jurisprudence (JD) from the Law School at the College of William & Mary in 1989. While at William & Mary Law School, Mr. McAuliffe was inducted into the Order of the Barristers, and he, with two teammates, won the National Moot Court Competition, the nation's premier law school advocacy competition.


In the community, Mr. McAuliffe served as the 2007 Vice Chair of the Board for the Children's Home Society, South Coastal Division, and was the 2007-08 Co-Chair of the Palm Beach Fellowship of Christians and Jews. Mr. McAuliffe also served as the President of the Palm Beach Cancer Institute Foundation for 2007-08. In 2007, Mr. McAuliffe was given a special recognition award from the Urban League of Palm Beach County for his service. In 2009, the Puerto Rican/Hispanic Chamber of Commerce gave its "Shining Star" award to Mr. McAuliffe.


Aside from his professional endeavors and community leadership, Mr. McAuliffe is an avid mountaineer. In May 2006, Mr. McAuliffe successfully climbed and reached the summit of Denali, the highest peak in North America at 20,320 ft. In January/February 2005, Michael successfully climbed and reached the summit of Aconcagua in South America (Andes) which, at 22,843 ft., is the highest peak in the Western Hemisphere and the world outside of Asia. Mr. McAuliffe also has climbed in Washington State (Mount Rainier) and in Colorado.
Mr. McAuliffe is married to Circuit Judge Robin Rosenberg and together they have three children.
